Gates BBQ Sauce | Packaging

“Hi, may I help you?” These words welcome you the moment you walk into a Gates restaurant in the Kansas City metro. While the brand is a Kansas City stalwart with its iconic red roof and “Struttin’ Man” in full top hat and tails, I thought its sauce label could use a refresh. Inspired by vintage etched illustrations and letterpress, this updated look honors parts of the original design but with a focus on hierarchy, typography, limited color palette, and a new logo. | student work
